Jesus Is A Liberal

"Jesus Is A Liberal," or so proclaims liberal bumper stickers and liberal talk show hosts. This is really an interesting phenomonum, that all of a sudden liberals are coming out on the side of Jesus. Or maybe Jesus is coming out on the side of liberals. Let's examine two things: the truth of what liberals say and why are they saying it now.

The Basis of the Claim

Let's first examine the basis of the claim that Jesus is a liberal. Their claims are taken from the Bible based on what Jesus said:

Scripture Reference Jesus Said:
Matthew 19:21 If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.
Luke 11:40 You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? But give what is inside the dish to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.
Luke 12:29 Sell your possessions and give to the poor.
Luke 14:13-14 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed.

The whole mantra of liberals is that they want to help the poor, the underdog and the downtrodden. Since that is what Jesus taught and did, Jesus is a liberal. The liberals would be delighted if we stopped right there. But let's ask the second question.

The Second Question

The Second Question is when you examine a matter further. It is when you don't accept at face value what you're told but ask another question to verify what you were told is reasonable. After all, isn't that what the liberals say, "Question Authority"? So let's question their statement.

Notice who Jesus is talking to. "You." He said, "If you want to be perfect..." "You foolish people..." "Sell your possessions..." "When you give a banquet..." Is that what liberals teach? Not at all. Liberals believe they should tax other people and give away other people's money to the poor. Liberals want to take away the hard earned money of other people and share it among those who are poorer. There is not one time, EVER, that a liberal teaches that they themselves should be responsible to help the poor, that they themselves should give up their own money to the poor. No, it is always they want to take away somebody else's money and give it to the poor.

Jesus would never have done that. That is the opposite of what Jesus taught. Jesus taught personal responsibility. The liberals teach that they should force other people to be responsible.

Let's make a test, and everybody answer me truthfully and honestly.

1. Would liberals like to be in charge of the government or do they want conservatives in charge of the government?

2. Once in charge of the government, would liberals trust conservatives to hand out the money to poor people, our would they themselves hand it out?

I believe the only truthful and honest answer is this, the liberals would prefer themselves to be in charge of the government and they want to be the authority that distributes the money. I don't see how somebody could come to a different conclusion. So let's go that way.

If liberals want to own the government and distribute the money, doesn't that mean the money must first pass through the hands of the liberals? Doesn't that mean liberals must have the power and the money first, before they can actually do what they claim they want to do? And then we have to trust them to do the right thing. I think that's what it means.

It's also a simple matter of fact that when money passes through the hands of government, the government must pay itself first, before it can pass along what is left of it to other people. If liberals own the government, all money must pass through the hands of liberals before some of it can be passed on to others.

But if you remember, the conservatives don't want money to flow through the hands of the government so they can redistribute it. Instead, conservatives want people to keep their own money, the money they earned.

Further Examination

Since liberals have taken on Jesus, let's just check it out further.

Who removed Bible reading from public schools? The liberals did. Would Jesus have done that? No. (If you think yes, then you just don't know Jesus, because the Bible says, "Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6)

Who removed prayer from public schools? The liberals did. Would Jesus have done that? No.

Who removed the ten commandments from courthouses and schoolhouses? The liberals did. Would Jesus have done that? No.

Who wants to remove the words "under God" from the American pledge to the flag? The liberals do. Would Jesus do that? No.

Who fights for wholesale killing of innocent children, called abortion? Liberals do. Would Jesus do that? No.

Who tries to take away parent's responsibility for their children and give it to the school authorities and the governments? The liberals do. Would Jesus do that? No.

Who gives condomns to children in middle and high school? Liberals do. Would Jesus do that? No.

It seems like liberals have taken their stand against God and against his Son Jesus. If liberals are in fact the enemies of Jesus, as their actions show, then why do they so strongly claim Jesus is a liberal?

Why Are They Saying, "Jesus Is A Liberal"?

I think that liberals claiming "Jesus is a liberal" is one of the most Machiavellian things ever I've ever heard in my life. Everything the liberals say and stand for are the opposite of what Jesus said and taught. So why do they want us to think Jesus is a liberal?

Liberals think (I know because I hear them say it all the time) that conservatives have a stranglehold on religious people much the same way liberals have a stranglehold on blacks, women and gays. Liberals have been losing elections to conservatives increasingly for the last ten years (1994-2005). Liberals recently began proclaiming Jesus not because they believe a whit about Jesus or his teachings but because they want to drain off some of the religious support from the conservatives.

Do you see why I call it Machiavellian? The political doctrine of Machiavelli denies the relevance of morality in political affairs and holds that craft and deceit are justified in pursuing and maintaining political power. That is exactly what the liberals are doing when they claim Jesus is a liberal.

It seems evident to me the liberals are and continue to be the quintessence of liars. They can point to a lying conservative here and a lying conservative there, but liberals engage in institutionalized lying. I'm sorry to say that, but how can any one draw any other conclusion?
